Tombstone Territorial Days Sept. 15-17, 2017

Tombstone would not be here today if not for the influence of the U.S. Army sending in soldiers
to establish Camp (and later Fort) Huachuca. The local cemeteries are filled with veterans of many
wars, including the War Between the States (1861 - 1865), the Indian Wars (fought in this area until
the 1886 surrender of the great warrior Geronimo), and World War I. The period of historic
significance for Tombstone is 1879 to 1929. We need to embrace all facets of our history to tell the
full tale of Tombstone.
